Slot Tube Adjustable Joint, Upward
The Slot Tube Adjustable Joint, Upward (MOD 1170) is the mirror of MOD 1160: a hinged joint set to the stair pitch on site where the handrail turns upwards – usually at the bottom of a stair.
MOD 1170 is listed on page 15 of the UNIKIM 2024 catalogue in three sizes for slot tube Ø42.4, Ø48.3 and Ø60.3 mm. It is part of the Slot Tube Handrail System – all parts.

Applications
Glass stair balustrades: bottom of flights, flight-to-landing transitions, split-level floors.
Installation notes
- Cut the slot tube square and deburr it; push the fitting in and fix it as shown in the installation guide (glue or screws).
- Order the fitting for the same tube size as your slot tube: Ø42.4, Ø48.3 or Ø60.3 mm.
- Fit the Slot Tube Rubber Strip (MOD 0842 / 0848 / 0860) for your glass before placing the tube on the glass.
Upward or downward?
Use MOD 1170 where the handrail turns up; use the Slot Tube Adjustable Joint, Downward (MOD 1160) where it turns down.
